Greg Jackson, trainer to the MMA stars, has revealed the true brilliance behind his training, his ability to think outside the box and inside the strip club:

Thanks to mmamania for linking to the video and proelite.com for producing it.

Fedor and the UFC: One night only?

Thursday, March 13th, 2008

MMAfightline is reporting rumors that the UFC and Fedor Emelianenko have renewed negotiations. The rumors of his free agency from last week still haven’t technically been confirmed, so what we’re dealing with here is a rumor X 2. Of course, as always, the best news dwells in the land of the unconfirmed.

The negotiations are for a one fight deal, presumably against Randy Couture, who has said in the past that he would consider returning to the Octagon if the UFC landed him, so, we’ll see…

UFC Vs. Fedor, Round 2?

Thursday, March 6th, 2008

It seems Monte Cox may have been holding back a bit earlier this week when he told CBS Sportsline that M1-Global and Fedor Emelianenko’s management had considered parting ways over the past five months.

ESPN is now reporting that Emelianenko could be a free agent again as early as next week.

Joe Rogan on UFC82, Couture/Fedor, EliteXC/CBS, and more.

Saturday, March 1st, 2008

Joe Rogan was on ESPN recently, reminding me why he’s the go to guy when it comes to promoting the sport of MMA. When he’s asked a question, you get his honest opinion, not necessarily the ‘UFC is all there is’ answer UFC President Dana White is known for.

In this interview, Rogan gives his thoughts on the Henderson/Silva fight at UFC 82 tonight, the recent EliteXC/CBS TV deal, Mark Cuban in MMA, and the Couture/Fedor fight. Again, nothing but straightforward answers, exactly what we’ve come to expect from WNYX’s electrician.

More on EliteXC/CBS

Thursday, February 28th, 2008

Variety is reporting the broadcast deal between EliteXC and CBS, making it about as official as it can be, short of a press release from one of the two companies. Oh wait, there’s one of those, too.

The CBS Television Network and ProElite, Inc., a Los Angeles-based leading entertainment and media company that produces world class mixed martial arts (MMA) events, today jointly announced a multi-year agreement that will bring one of the fastest growing spectator sports to a major broadcast television network for the first time.
